some thoughts on fasting, music and prayer

Happy Sunday all. My Sunday has been wonderful today. I am really grateful for the opportunity that we have to fast every month, I really have a testimony of fasting and the spirit it can bring into my heart when I do it with the right purpose.

Did I tell you that I got a calling as a primary worker a couple of weeks ago? It is so great. Today I got to start playing the piano to sub for the lady that usually does it. I played some prelude when I got there, and played all the songs they sang, and played as they did their activity and played while they left, and I noticed a different spirit when there was music playing. The kids were so quiet and reverent, it amazed me. It left me feeling overwhelmed and filled with a sweet spirit from Heavenly Father.

When I got home from church I started reading some talking on lds.org. I came across President Hinkley's talk outlining his 6 "Be's".
  1. Be grateful.
  2. Be smart.
  3. Be clean.
  4. Be true.
  5. Be humble.
  6. Be prayerful.
What wonderful council from an amazing latter day prophet. I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of a Church that has restored all of the truthes of Jesus Christ's gospel. In this talk, towards the end I came across this paragraph.
"You need His help, and you know that you need His help. You cannot do it alone. You will come to realize that and recognize that more and more as the years pass. So live that in good conscience you can speak with the Lord. Get on your knees and thank Him for His goodness to you and express to Him the righteous desires of your hearts. The miracle of it all is that He hears. He responds. He answers—not always as we might wish He would answer, but there is no question in my mind that He answers." -- President Hinkley
Those words right here spoke to my heart. Sometimes when I pray I become overwhelmed with gratitude for all that He has given me. Have you read my blog? Have you heard about my wonderful life? I am so blessed. I don't even understand why. The Lord has been so amazingly good to me. I know He's there and I know that He answers prayers.

What do you believe? Do you know that God is there for you and He loves you? I hope you know it as I know it. I hope your fast Sunday has been as good as mine.
