I'm glad that the training for my new job falls right in the week of midterms. Good thing I'm awesome and most of my classes don't even have stressful midterms.
So do you want to hear about this job? Once upon a time, I went home for memorial day weekend and I had a couple of letters from a company called Vector telling me about a summer job opportunity. I decided, what the heck, I'll fill out the online application. So I did and the next morning I got a call inviting me to come to an interview. So I got ready real fast and went to a group interview and found out a little bit about the company. Then the manager met with us one on one and told me that he was very impressed with me and wanted to offer me a position. I was a little shell shocked, everything happened really fast.
Since I am up in Rexburg right now, they decided to have me do my training in Idaho Falls so I can start selling right away. So John and Sherri, being the amazing people that they are let me use their minivan so I can get to IF this week. I started training today, missing the majority of my classes. I hustled back after 5 hours of training to take my education midterm. Tomorrow I'll take a sightreading test for theory and then hustle down for more training. At the end of the week I'll get a set of knives to borrow and get to start setting up appoinments.
Basically my job is this: I make appointments with people to go into their homes and give a 45 minute presentation about how awesome CUTCO knives are. I get paid whether they buy them or not so I really don't even care if they buy anything. If they do, then there is an incentive program and I can get commissions and all this great stuff. I have the potential to make over $120 a day if I do 8 appointments a day which is what I want to do when I go home for the summer. But for now I'll try for 8 appointments a week, so I can still focus on school and stuff but actually have some income.
I'm unbelievably excited about this job. You have no idea. I really think that it's going to be a good experience for me. And the best part is that it's something I can do no matter where I am. I keep moving back and forth between Utah and Rexburg so that is really nice. And I don't know where the next year is going to take me, if I'll even stay up here for the next three years. We'll just have to see.
I'm also way excited because I'm going to work hard this summer so I can have enough to buy a car. I'm going to get a Honda Civic or Accord, or a Toyota Camry, it must be a stick shift. I'm incredibly stoked about it. I can't wait to have my own transportation. It will make things a lot easier.
Um, hey, my life is awesome. :) Huzzah!
