it's the most wonderful time of the year

You know that huge debate that comes up every year at about this time, the question being whether or not Christmas music should or should not be listened to before "Christmas?" I'd like to pose my argument for the listening of said music in the time before Thanksgiving.

It's my opinion that "Christmas" isn't so much a DAY as it is a state and a season. People who vehemently argue that Thanksgiving is constantly being skipped over by the use of Christmas music and that Thanksgiving deserves its own day (as though Thanksgiving has feelings that we are neglecting?...ok...), I think are missing the point of this holiday season. Yes, holiday SEASON that encompasses Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I love this time of year. I love the holiday season. And I love listening to Christmas music as a part of that.

It's true that the stuff they play on the radio isn't always my favorite. When I think about Christmas music, I mostly like to think about those songs that talk about the birth of Christ. When I listen to Christmas music, I pretty exclusively listen to John Rutter choral arrangements and Motab renditions of Christmas hymns. I love it. I love the spirit that it brings into my home and I love beautiful, sacred Christmas music. So in that sense, I avoid the radio stations playing Christmas.

If you are on Spotify, get on it and look up John Rutter Christmas. It's wonderful.
