wisdom

This one time I moved into a new apartment.
And took 5 days to (start) unpacking.
We went on a roadtrip to Boise.
I met and spent time with Kevin's parents for the first time.
Our parents all met each other.
We talked about wedding plans all weekend long.
And then we started school.

Please bless this semester will go fast.
Because then we are getting married.

temple time capsule

About 5 or 6 years ago for a Young Women's activity we made these temple time capsules.

I opened mine a few days ago, because I'm engaged to be married. :)
There was stuff inside like a picture of our dream dress, temple and ring, some marriage advice and a wedding questionare.
Most of it just made me laugh, like rediscovering that my 15 year old self wanted to serve crossant sandwhiches and after dinner mints at my reception.
But there were a couple of really sweet things like a letter that I wrote to my future husband that Kevin and I read together.
It was really funny to see how my taste had changed, especially when it came to the ring and dress.
I am so grateful that Kevin and I are going to have the opportunity to get married for time and all eternity in the Temple of our Heavenly Father. People ask me all the time how wedding planning is going, but honestly, the most important part of the day is already set in stone. We have the temple reserved. That's the thing I am most looking forward to, and if everything else is a disaster, I'll probably be a little miffed, but not much because all of that other stuff is just extra.

I'm just excited to be sealed to my love forever. What an amazing blessing.

wouldn't it be loverly?

I moved. Again. Two days ago. I still haven't unpacked.
Mandy is out of town. I'm in charge apparently. My boss is emailing me stuff. I'm BSing my way through making custom cabinets. Good thing my daddy is the one who designed it so I can call him when he's in Delaware.
We went to the dentist today. It was a party. My teeth are tingling still.
Getting Little Ceasars right after going to the dentist is a great idea.
High school volleyball gets me highly overexcited. It was fun to watch my cousin Sammy play. :)
Kevin got an iphone. I realized that we can facetime Cammie now and then I got really excited.
Today I ate a third of a cucumber.
We are going to Boise this weekend for Ashley's reception.
Basically I don't know when I'm ever going to unpack.
Maybe never.
What's the point? I'm moving again in four months.
And then I will be a married woman.
And I will live with a boy.
Named Kevin.
I love him.
And I will love living with him.
Because I'm sick of sharing space with 10 other people.

happy wedding day!

Today this lovely lady was sealed to her eternal companion. :) I took a few pictures as they came out of the temple. I love you Ash Bash! I can't wait to join you in wedded bliss!

you lovely thing you

Dear Cammie,
You left for college yesterday.
After you drove away I stood in your bedroom and bawled my eyes out.
Kevin said that me standing there looked like I had just sent my own daughter away to college.
I am so gosh darn excited for you to go start your new adventures at school.
You are going to love it so much.
And I know it's a little scary and hard right now because beginnings are that way, but I think you'll be pleased to find that this is where life gets stinking awesome.
Everything else has just been preparing you for this. It's the best.
I wish I wasn't so selfish Cam Cam. I've always just taken it for granted that you would always be here. I was the one that was far away but I could always come home to you.
Now it's the other way around.
Janna and I will keep each other company the best we can, but I'm pretty sure you are her favorite.
Actually I think you are everyone's favorite. :)
We love you babydoll.
I love you the most.
Go do awesome things down there. You are the best.
Love,
Amberly

sometimes

Sometimes we try really hard to go to the gym but I don't want to and the lady won't let us in because I have a hold on my account.

Sometimes I cry for no particular reason. Kevin holds me close and tell me he loves me.

Sometimes I ask Kevin if I can have that ring pop and he gets down on one knee and proposes to me again with it.

Sometimes we have to pack up all of our things and move. But we will still be living in different apartments. Because we aren't married yet.

Sometimes we listen to Shrek the Musical and Miss Saigon while packing.

Sometimes we realize that there isn't enough sugar to make the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. And I cry about it.

Sometimes December 22 seems like a very long time away.

one hundred thirty seven

The lady at the car shop thought that we were married.
I didn't see any reason to correct her.

tell it from the mountain top baby

I realized that I never put up the proposal story on my blog. So I decided to do that. :)

Straight from the pages of my journal (which we all know is always completely correct. Right Mom?)

Sunday July 22, 2012
Dear Journal,
Yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life. We woke up super early and had breakfast, then left to hike Y mountain. We made a stop at "our rock" where Kevin and I had our first kiss and where he told me he loves me. I knew that he had put a deposit on the ring I loved, but he told me that it would be two weeks before he had it. We got to the top of our rock and I, being the dork that I am, started feeling in his pockets as a joke. But then I felt the ring box. Kevin looked at me and said, "Can I be really corny and tell you some of the reasons why I love you?" And then he listed off some really sweet things about me. Then he stood up and said "So now I have a question for you." He got down on one knee. "Amberly Hurst, will you marry me?" I cried and laughed and said "Yes!" and we put the ring on my finger and thoroughly enjoyed the first moments of being engaged. We called our families and laughed and kissed and shouted from the top of the mountain.

We will be married December 22, 2012 in the Mt. Timpanogos temple. I couldn't be more excited. I've never understood love like I do now and I've never seen God's hand in my life more than I have in the last 7 months, and especially in the last 3 since I've known Kevin.

I wish that there were words I could use to describe how I feel about Kevin. He is perfect for me in the big ways and the small. He encompasses everything I have ever wanted in a future husband. He is sweet, loving, service oriented. He is so strong in the church and such a leader. He has a love of music that makes my heart sing. He loves me so much. He respects me and wants to take me to the temple. He is a worthy priesthood holder. The way that I love him is like the way I love the gospel. It permeates every aspect of my life. I can see our life together and I can see that it is going to be wonderful and amazing. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I thank Heavenly Father for him every day. I'm so grateful that I get to spend eternity with Kevin. What an amazing man. I love him so so much.

Love,
Amberly

bummer

Once upon a time we tried to hike Timp.

And failed.

The end.

because of the napkins.

That day when all you want to do is eat. Eat. Eat. EAT.

And then you just want to sleep. Sleep. Sleep. SLEEP.
